10 Creative ways to make your Home feel more “Nature-y” and bring on the Earthy Vibes

Lately I’ve been working hard to create the home space I want for us. Along with lots of de-cluttering and organizing, I’ve also done some planning to decorate the way I want! The more I brainstorm and organize the looks I like, I’ve realized that I want our home to feel like a bit of nature. I have found myself seeking earthy colors for fabrics, wooden furniture, and ways to bring more plants indoors. So for those who, like me, can’t get enough of the outdoors and want to bring a more earthy/nature vibe inside the home… this post is for you!

First off… bring in everything you can from outdoors.

Before you try to replicate the look of nature, try bringing it inside!

Plants

We are definitely plant lovers in this home… If (like us) you have little toddler hands that love to dig in potted plants, find creative ways to display plants on shelves or from the ceiling like in this awesome photo!

Nature Collections

Instead of collecting tea sets, try collecting rocks, leaves, pine cones, or sea shells! Bringing these items in for display in your home are sure to bring a fresher, earthy feel. Check out this post to see my DIY Seashell Display.

Nature Shelf

I love the look of a big shelf full of nature finds! I’m hoping we can build a sort of shadow box soon to hold all our nature discoveries… something like this!

Homemade Garlands made from natural elements

Why not hang those natural items you’ve collected on a homemade garland over your fireplace or window? These can make fun seasonal decor, using fall leaves or evergreen bows, or you can go for something that stays up year-round! Stay tuned to see how I made our pinecone and acorn garland.

Woven Baskets

Thrift stores are my favorite place to look for baskets. You can find some awesome baskets if you keep your eyes open! If you don’t go the thrifting route, try finding baskets that look extra earthy to increase the natural effect 😉

Natural Fiber Rugs

Woven jute rugs are one of my favorites! I recently bought us a rug with woven jute, cotton, and leather. It looks beautiful and smells earthy! (Carter hated it the first few days until the smell faded. But I definitely got some complements on the smell 😉 )

Earthy Tones

I finally got around to sewing our throw pillows and am loving the colors I chose! The neutral fabric was thrifted from an old set of curtains and I bought the evergreen and rusty mustard color new. I feel like these colors bring a warm nature/autumn feel into our living space. What do you think?

Choice of Artwork

Artwork definitely goes a long way when setting the tone for the rest of your home. Landscapes definitely bring a natural vibe. I also love candid family photos taken in nature for bringing in even more earthy feels ♥. Also, don’t forget your choice of frames! Raw wooden frames and frames painted in earthy tones complement the look.

Natural looking wood

I absolutely love the look of natural, unpainted wood. It’s what I chose for Peter’s crib and dresser (the two furniture pieces I’ve actually picked out) and I’ve tried to find frames with a similar look. There are amazing wooden furniture pieces that have a beautiful natural look. In my opinion, wood is always the way to go ♥.

I love the natural look of the bed and nightstand in this bedroom!
