Some things I love about my German

So Carter’s not really completely German. But he’s got some German ancestry, he owns his own pair of lederhosen, and left a piece of his heart in Germany, so that’s good enough for me ♥. Ha ha!

Mostly I wanted to write this post as an excuse to share these darling photos taken three years ago!

After sharing about our camping trip to Albion Basin earlier this month, I was dying to share more photos of this beautiful place. I love these photos taken by our cousin, @jonnyhill_uk the summer before we got engaged. Carter had recently returned home from his mission in the Bavarian Alps and had brought home traditional German tracten (his lederhosen and my dirndl) for the two of us to wear. This beautiful area was the perfect setting for this impromptu photo shoot. (insert heart eyes emoji here) 😉

But what’s the harm in an excuse to share some things I love about my dearest? I look back at these photos so fondly, remembering those early(er) years of our relationship. There’s something sweet about the giddy affection we shared before getting married (although I still like to think we share that giddy affection!)

I love our history. That Carter and I met in high school after he spotted me across the classroom. Although it sometimes makes me sheepish, I love reflecting on how young and silly we were. I love how we have grown and found ourselves together ♥.

I love that people still say we act like newlyweds sometimes (I know, we could still probably be considered newlyweds…). But I love that we still love kisses and snuggles ♥.

I love trying new things together. Learning, growing, and creating. Like starting our garden in the living room of our first apartment, eating dinner on the floor of the same apartment, painting with Bob Ross, and becoming parents together.

I love seeing him be a Daddy. The joy he gets from being a Dad and the joy he brings to Peter and me. We are so so grateful for our sweet Carter ♥.
