Give the Earth some Lovin’- 10 ways to kick off your Earth Day celebration

earth day ideas for toddlers

Earth day is approaching, and with it the glorious springtime weather! I know earth day is not typically a holiday people tend to celebrate or even think about. But let’s think on it for a moment.

What has your earth given you this year? What do you love about the earth?

If your answer is just about everything, you’re spot on. We take a lot from our friendly earth and tend to give little back in return. Whether you live for a trip in the woods, or you prefer the indoors and AC, the earth is always giving to you! So I thought I’d compile a list of ways to celebrate earth day and GIVE BACK to this beautiful earth that gives us so much.

Start your flower or vegetable garden.

Go hiking and pick up trash along the way.

Use recycled egg cartons, yogurt, or berry containers to start some seeds.

Make a meal from only fresh produce and other natural foods. Nothing processed!

Start something you’ve been meaning to for a while. Be it recycling, composting, riding your bike more, using public transportation… the possibilities are endless.

STOP something you know you’d like to stop. Maybe stop idling your car while waiting for carpool or stop throwing out unused food.

Spend a day in nature. Relax at the park. Take a hike. Spend time with your hammock and a good book.

Go to the library and learn something new. Read up on gardening, composting, wildflowers, geology, and so much more!

Buy reusable bags and commit to USE THEM! Or if you want to get crafty, check out some of these cool ways to up-cycle old fabric and make your own.

Volunteer for a community cleanup project! There are all sorts of great (and fun) park, trail, and city cleanup projects available on and around earth day. Finding opportunities near you is just a google search away!

I love my earth. I am so so grateful and awestruck every moment I spend out in the beauty this earth provides. But we do tend to take so much and give so little back. It’s not too late to change whatever habits you have. TODAY can be the day you start giving back to the world that gives you so much love 🙂

PLEASE comment with what you will do this Earth Day to celebrate and give back to the earth. What are you already doing? I’d love to hear!

And remember… EVERY DAY is EARTH DAY 🙂
