Loving Mothers Day Gifts for New & Expecting Moms

Mothers Day is just around the corner! With several friends and family members who have recently had or are expecting babies soon, I’ve got the needs of new mothers on my mind! I’ve had fun putting together little postpartum goodie baskets, so why not pull together even more ideas for thoughtful mothers day gifts? Gift giving has always been so hard for me! Gifts are not my love language, and I struggle in the moment to find something truly meaningful. While you may struggle to think of what to give that new or expecting mother in your life, there are probably a lot of things that will give her the warm encouragement and nurturing she needs to keep doing what she does!

Give the Gift of Pampering…

Mamas rarely stop to give themselves the love and care they need! Give mama the attention she needs with some extra pampering. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Massage

Whether you book one for her or pull out the massage oil and give it yourself, this is so nice!

Homemade Bath Salts

Spa Day

Combine a few ideas… maybe do massages, watch the kids while she takes a relaxing bath, paint her nails, facials… so many fun ways to make pampering a full event!

A Clean Home!

Let mom relax or maybe spend some time with her baby(s) while you take over at the house. Give the gift of a home that shines! Even something as simple as doing the dishes or folding laundry can go such a long way.

Sentimental Motherhood Gifts

Mother Artwork

Breastmilk Jewelry

For those who have never heard of it, it might sound totally weird. But breastmilk jewelry can be absolutely beautiful and a sacred relic of this sacred phase of motherhood. Here are some beautiful breastmilk jewelry items for sale on Etsy!

Family Photos

I know one thing I love is getting updated family photos on the wall… but it’s hard to get the photos taken and hard to get them up and framed once we finally have them! Help mama out by offering to help plan/pay for a photo session or just take photos yourself. If she’s already got the photos, surprise her by getting some of her favorites framed and ready for the wall.

Other Nice Things

Gift Card for Her Favorite Restaurant

Give the gift of clean dishes, food, and a night out with the husband or the whole family all in one!

A Cheerful (and hard to kill) House Plant

Plants bring life and sunshine into the home but busy moms might struggle with needy houseplants on top of their babes! Try gifting some easy plants that don’t need too much attention, but will still lift mama’s spirits and purify her home. Check out these “easiest plants to keep alive” from laurenconrad.com

A Good Book

All that time new babies spend at the boob, it’s nice to have a good book to open up! Do some investigation and find out what kinds of books mama likes or what sorts of things she’s interested in learning. You can even browse the thrift store for fun, cheap options and give her several books she might like!

Offer to Babysit

I find that I never think to ask for babysitters, even though we have family and friends close by who are asking US when they can babysit! Save her from having to ask or feel guilty about getting a babysitter and just offer. Let her take the day or evening off to relax or get done whatever she’s got on her list.

I so hope these ideas have inspired you as far as gifts for new and expecting mamas. Show those new moms that you care and that you know it’s not easy right now!
