DIY Foaming Hand Soap Recipe – Mrs. Meyers Seasonal Soap Copycat

Who else loves pulling out all the yummy holiday scented hand soaps this time of year? Soaps are one of my favorite ways of bringing in some extra seasonal cheer, and one of the more discreet ways I can bring in the cozy vibes before we get all the Christmas decorations up. Seasonal scented soaps made their way into our home in September I think!

Where I usually buy Mrs. Meyer’s fall and winter soaps from Grove Collaborative, this year my favorites sold out so quick! (My very favorite is the Acorn Spice soap… yum!). I have also come to realize that even brands marketed as natural and non-toxic, like Mrs. Meyer’s are not as “clean” as I would like to believe. More and more, I find that I prefer to make my own personal care and cleaning products that I KNOW are safe. (like my favorite homemade dishwasher detergent!).

So today I’m here to prove that you don’t have to trade non-toxic, clean products for the cozy holiday scents you love. Using essential oils, you can get NATURAL scents that are non-toxic (be sure to follow dilution guidelines for essential oils, though!) You can also save TONS of money by making this diy foaming hand soap recipe.

What Goes into Homemade Foaming Hand Soap?

This homemade foaming hand soap is extremely SIMPLE and comes together so quickly. All you need is:

  • Liquid Castile soap (you can buy Castile soap at stores or online)
  • Olive oil or Almond oil
  • Essential Oils (optional, use for making scented hand soap)
  • Water (distilled or boiled water is best)

That’s it!

Actually, the majority of this recipe is just water. To think I’ve been paying big bucks for soap and other products that are mostly water…

If you’re like me, trying to pinch pennies wherever you can, maybe you’re asking…

How can using Essential Oils SAVE me money??

Essential oils are extremely expensive little bottles, right?

Well yes and no. I used to adamantly refuse to buy essential oils because of the price. But when you look into how much you really use from a bottle, you realize they are really so worth it (with the exception of maybe a few more expensive oils). 10-15 dollars for 15 ml is pretty common. But when you only use a few drops at a time for recipes and you dilute the oil for application on the skin, one $15 bottle is TOTALLY worth it and can actually save you TONS of money if you use it to make homemade products instead of buying fancy fragranced (and toxic) alternative products.

Trust me on this.
